LeSportsac has collaborated with fashion designer Alber Elbaz, the former creative director at Lanvin, who was credited with transforming the 125-year-old French house into a sought-after luxury label.
Elbaz will spearhead the design of LeSportsac’s Fall 2018 collection scheduled to be revealed at New York Fashion Week on September 5.
According to those who have seen a sneak preview, he has created “a sublime collection: witty, whimsical and made with love”.
“If we inject more love into fashion, and less fear, we have a beautiful reason to wake up every morning,” Elbaz says of his LeSportsac work. “LeSportsac is fun, colorful and modern – it makes me smile every time.”
The new styles preserve the best features of past designs from the New York label with the French name.
“The soul and the spirit of the collection are exemplified through exotic, exuberant takes on timeless LeSportsac styles.”
Playful messages and powerful graphics feature on five prints: Dance with Me, Love Me Kiss Me, Big Kiss, Color Me Leopard, and Color Me Zebra – all lined with an exclusive logo print designed by Elbaz.
D’Arcy Jensen, VP and global creative director of LeSportsac, says Elbaz’s enthusiastic perspective on life – and thus to design – makes the collaboration so special.
“His warmth, humour, and optimism are a perfect fit with our brand personality. He has created empowering designs that encourage us to have fun and laugh more.”
The Alber Elbaz x LeSportsac collection will be available online at lesportsac.com from August 15, prior to their on-stage debut in New York, after which they go on sale in stores worldwide.
