These cute little interactive Fingerlings monkeys will come to life when curled around your finger.
Created by WowWee, a hi-tech consumer robotic and entertainment products maker, they went on sale in the US on August 11 at a very reasonable $14.99 each through Toys ‘R Us, Walmart, Amazon and Target.
WowWee describes Fingerlings as “adorable, mini interactive pet robots” that respond to sound, motion and touch.
Designed for children aged five and over, each Fingerlings critter is just 5.5″ tall and features over 40 sounds and animations – including happy monkey sounds, blinking eyes, heads that turn, curly hanging tails, and hands that grip.
“These perfect primate pets provide endless ways to play – you can swing them, pet them, blow them kisses, and even rock them to sleep,” the company says.
Here’s a video so you can watch how they interact:
Inspired by the rare finger monkey species that are placed at-risk when removed from their natural habitat, WowWee found a way to create a safe and playful way to provide every child with a fingertip friend. As part of its mission to bring these monkeys to life without endangerment, WowWee is donating $1 for every Fingerlings sold in the first week of sales to WildAid, an animal conservation nonprofit, which works to protect wildlife and end illegal wildlife trade.
Fingerlings Baby Monkeys are available in six different colors, all with unique personalities: Bella (pink), Mia (purple), Sophie (white), Boris (blue), Zoe (turquoise) and Finn (black).
“We’re always looking for fun and innovative ways to teach and amuse kids with our products,” said Sydney Wiseman, brand manager at WowWee.
“Fingerlings are like having an interactive friend at your fingertips – they’re impossible not to love! We have been so excited by the positive response across the UK and Canada and we can’t wait to see the reaction in the US. It’s definitely a highly anticipated launch and we’re happy to have the opportunity to support a great wildlife cause along the way.”
