Japanese automaker Honda is broadening its research and development into AI vehicles.
At the recent Tokyo Motor Show a new Honda EV sports car concept was on display, which talks to its driver.
As the photos show, the car has a “cute face” aimed to inspire empathy with consumers – which no doubt helps overcome the disturbing reality for those humans who enjoy the driving experience which will one day in the not-too-distant future be taken away from us…. (If you don’t believe me, take a read of this apocalyptic vision of our motoring future by seasoned US motor industry executive Bob Lutz).
Honda’s “friendly” Sports EV, which incorporates both electric and artificial intelligence technologies, aims to create communication between the driver and car.
It looks cute. It might go fast (if its AI controls allow it) and it will be friendly to the environment. Is it the face of things to come?
Honda president Takahiro Hachigo said the company is increasing its focus on electric and autonomous technologies.
Other Honda concepts on display at the Tokyo Motor Show included a “mobile room” which can drive itself to locations and convert into a cafe, an intelligent lawnmower and a pedestrian chair.
