Sometimes a new approach to packaging can make a great product even greater – as La Marca Prosecco attests this month.
To mark National Prosecco Day (yes, there is such a thing, apparently, but I’d like to think every day can be a Prosecco Day!) La Marca has released a jewel-shaped hat box that doubles as a water-resistant ice bucket and serving tray – with 12 mini bottles of La Marca Blue inside.
“This National Prosecco Day, we wanted to bring the celebration to La Marca fans around the country,” explains Claudia Manetta, export manager for La Marca Prosecco.
“Our special boxed set was crafted specifically for hosting their own sparkling celebrations, whether that be a sophisticated soiree, a bubbly brunch or a simple Saturday afternoon.”
The brand, which claims to be America’s favourite prosecco, is selling the boxes at selected wine retailers nationwide and on The Barrel Room in states where online alcohol purchases are legal.
“La Marca is celebrating 50 years of producing our signature Prosecco renowned for its delicate floral aromas, crisp fruit palate and elegant effervescence,” said Manetta.
The only odd part of this product is the inclusion of “sweetly striped paper sipping straws”. Do people in the US really drink sparkling wine through straws?
Meanwhile, those who want to indulge in a more traditional sparkling libation may be keen to learn that La Marca Prosecco is also launching a limited edition DOCG-designated bottle dubbed the Luminore to mark it 50th birthday.
“Inspired by the sun-draped hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, Luminore showcases exquisite craftsmanship and exemplifies the true beauty of not just Prosecco, but also the precise region where it was perfected.”
