French Artist Mathilde de l’Ecotais has worked with Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail to create a new Martell Cordon Bleu Limited Edition release for Chinese New Year.
The stunning bottle and box design was crafted to reflect the spirit and character of Martell, as well as the gift-giver’s impeccable taste – what Martell describes as the ultimate gift to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Every special gift comes with a story behind it, the new Martell launch is built around ‘the art of generosity’. Knowing gifts can becomes memories treasured for years to come, Martell wanted to show that generosity is a talent, “one that sees us seek out the unique for our loved ones,” said a spokesperson.
“A present that can be kept on display for years to come with the pedestal included in the pack, each Martell Cordon Bleu Limited Edition invokes a bespoke experience. To reveal the treasure within, the gift-receiver must pull the blue ribbons on the side of the box to unveil the bottle and trigger their curiosity.”
A contemporary artist and photographer, Mathilde’s creative encounter with the House of Martell reflects the partners’ shared values: an attachment to nature and using traditional craft.
Exploring the cognac’s aromas and key character, Mathilde used cyanotype, a photographic printing process that uses a cyan solution applied to paper with a brush in order to create images revealed through exposure to sunlight. With its spectacular special blue and gold coating, the bottle includes images of grapes and vine leaves overlaid with sweeping circular brush strokes.
The one-litre Martell Cordon Bleu Limited Edition gift box was released on January 1 at airport locations where the brand is popular with travellers in Asia, the US and the Pacific. It has a recommended retail price of US$229.
