Oakley, internationally renowned for its eyewear products, has teamed with NFL football helmet maker Vicis to create the first ever co-developed football optics system.
Oakley’s shield is designed to complement the wide field of view of the Zero1 helmet used by professional player and improve clarity and contrast for the player.
The Zero1 offers the widest field of view of any football helmet on the market – nearly the limit of human peripheral vision.
“Oakley’s collaboration with Vicis is a testament to the brand’s belief that everything can and will be made better,” said Ryan Saylor, Oakley VP of advanced product. “Extending our leading optics technology to another field allowed us to create the highest performance football shield for the highest performance helmet.”
“We saw an opportunity to partner with Oakley to help players elevate their performance via improved optics,” said Dave Marver, Vicis CEO and co-founder. “Our goal is that athletes wearing a ZERO1 will benefit from industry- leading field of view, enhanced optical clarity and better protection.”
From September, the Vicis Edge Shield by Oakley will be distributed directly to teams and can be ordered online.
